House concerts

It's just like it sounds: We set up in your living room, backyard or other space, with chairs set up facing us. You invite your friends, and we play. We talk about the music and interact with the audience.

It's great to have food and drink to enjoy before or afterward, either pot luck or provided by the host. Time to visit and talk about the music is what makes these intimate concerts so enjoyable.

We offer multiple themed presentations (plus holiday music in December). Among them:

  • As You Like It. The audience selects what song we'll play next, creating a set list in real time.

  • Songs and Stories. Original music with universal themes of places, life, love, and children, and the stories behind them.

  • Bach to the Future. A look at how J.S. Bach's timeless music continues to influence song writers today.

  • Stage and Screen: Music from Broadway, the movies and television.

  • Love and Heartbreak. Love songs. Drop dead songs. Growing old together songs.

  • The '60s±. Building on a firm foundation of Beatles songs, we explore pop songs from the 1960s, as well as the '50s and '70s.

  • Classics with a Twist: When you pair mandolin with cello, Beethoven, Debussy and their buddies get a new sound.

What do I need to do to host a concert?

A house concert should be relaxing and fun, not a stressful burden. So the requirements are few:

  • A room large enough to hold 20 people or more. You'd be surprised at how many people can fit comfortably in an average-sized living room when they sit.

  • A way to collect donations from guests, as that's how we get paid. If you prefer, you can underwrite a performance.

  • A place to set out CDs and download cards for sale.
